Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec will keep his post as United States Regional Vice President of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education board, after winning a second two-year term that runs through 2028.
In this role, Schovanec speaks for member universities across the United States, helping guide international education policy and partnerships while opening doors for research and collaboration. His duties include steady outreach to university presidents across Latin America and the Caribbean, including Colombia and Costa Rica.
The Inter-American Organization for Higher Education aims to build stronger higher education institutions by fostering cooperation between its members and other partner organisations.
The group counts more than 400 universities across 28 countries among its members, placing it among the larger higher education networks in the Americas.
Over his first term, Schovanec gave talks with several international groups, including the Association of International Educators, the Association of International Education Administrators, the Conference of the Americas on International Education, and the DIES Program-Internationalization of Higher Education.
He also co-wrote a book chapter with fellow Texas Tech administrators in “Reimagining Higher Education: From Pedagogical Traditions to Analytics-Driven Innovation.”
