Universal School, one of Lebanon’s most established educational institutions, has announced a new partnership with Rosedale International Education to deliver the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) programme starting September. The agreement was signed during a ceremony at Rosedale’s headquarters in Toronto in the third week of May.
The partnership will allow Universal School students in grades 9 to 12 to earn the OSSD, a Canadian qualification recognised internationally, alongside the Lebanese Baccalaureate. The dual-diploma pathway is expected to open access to universities across Canada, North America and Europe.
Mrs Ghada Katour said the partnership marked a defining moment for Universal School and for Lebanese education. She noted that the school had spent 68 years preparing students to face a changing world, and that it was now offering them a certified Canadian credential that would give them a concrete advantage in international university admissions without having to leave Lebanon.
Under the agreement, Universal School teachers will handle daily instruction, while Rosedale’s Ontario-certified educators will oversee official evaluations and credentialing to ensure compliance with Ontario Ministry of Education standards.
Rosedale International Education, a provider of OSSD programmes for international students across more than 17 countries, welcomed the partnership. Ravi Kumar, Regional Head of Global Partnerships, said Universal School’s commitment to academic excellence and student outcomes made it an ideal partner, adding that the collaboration would bring Canadian education standards to Lebanon.
The first OSSD cohort is expected to include 25 to 30 students for the coming academic year, with enrolment open since May. Weekly information sessions for interested families are scheduled to begin in June.
