Background :
The National Testing Agency will hold the NEET UG 2026 re-test on June 21 for medical aspirants across the country. The decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India and brings clarity for more than 22 lakh medical aspirants across the country.
The agency shared the revised examination schedule through its official communication channels and advised students and parents to rely only on official updates related to the examination process. The announcement comes after several days of uncertainty following the cancellation of the earlier test held in May.
The cancellation had affected the admission timeline for undergraduate medical courses and created concern among students preparing for one of the country’s largest entrance examinations. With the new exam date now confirmed, candidates can continue their preparation with a clear schedule in place.
Officials said the decision to conduct the examination again was aimed at ensuring fairness and maintaining transparency in the admission process. The revised schedule is also expected to help authorities streamline further stages including admit cards, results and counselling procedures.
NEET-UG remains the main entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses in India and is taken by lakhs of students every year. The latest development is being viewed as an important step toward restoring confidence among candidates and parents after concerns were raised over the security of the earlier examination.
Students have been advised to follow official updates for information on admit cards and examination guidelines before the June test.
