Background :
Education in Motion (EiM), a global organization focused on education, organized the first EAB Summit and Board Meeting for its new Education Advisory Board (EAB) in Singapore towards the end of April. This summit was an important development as far as the strategies of EiM to tackle the challenge of artificial intelligence in education were concerned.
The summit was conducted at Dulwich College (Singapore) and comprised distinguished academics and educationalists who included former presidents of Yale, Oxford, New York University, and Rice University, as well as
Rose Luckin, the expert on AI in education from University College London. Around 40 experts, including school heads, teachers, and EiM’s central education team, attended the discussions.
The three-day programme also included the board’s first in-person meeting and EiM’s annual leadership conference.
The summit focused on helping school leaders understand artificial intelligence and make informed decisions about its use in classrooms. The group said it aims to place students at the centre of decision-making while using technology to support learning outcomes.
Professor Luckin led a workshop explaining how large language models work in education. She noted that the summit aimed to equip leaders with tools to evaluate AI carefully and make long-term decisions that benefit students.
EiM said Singapore was chosen due to its strong position in education and technology. The event also emphasized the emphasis on innovation among the group, aided by such amenities as The Greenhouse, which is a zero-energy building extension to the campus.
The Education Advisory Board, formed in September, is geared towards ensuring that the EiM education strategy is well-planned for the future. Leaders said the initiative reflects their intent to shape global discussions on AI in education.
