Red Deer Polytechnic has a partnership with the company BorderPass, which innovates and modernizes the otherwise complicated immigration for international students process.
“We are pleased to be in partnership with BorderPass, an affordable, legal service for international students as they navigate the immigration process to study, live, and work in Canada,” notes Werner Beylefeld, Red Deer Polytechnic’s Dean of International Education. “As RDP continues growing its global operations and opportunities available, we hope that the call for international student interest in applying to the Polytechnic shall remain on a rise. Indeed, we still open our minds and campuses more to international as well as other domestic students where diversity enhances an entire RDP community.”
BorderPass will retain all student services and supports provided by Red Deer Polytechnic. BorderPass makes it easy for international students through every stage of their student lifecycle-from acceptance into an academic program through graduation to the workforce. Already working with tens of thousands of international students, BorderPass has access to Canadian immigration lawyers who collectively garner legal experience on preparing and submitting applications for study permits as well as permanent residence pathways. BorderPass keeps immigration papers organized and also provides the person with information about his immigration process.
As an institution to the learner, the Polytechnic offers academic and settlement support at all times to the student. International students can also have such supports offered with the help of robust student services including, among others, the provision of academic advising, health and wellbeing, and tutoring opportunities. International Mentorship Program
Red Deer Polytechnic has also provided the International Mentorship Program, which introduces new international students to continuing RDP students who can guide the former through the process as international learners transition into post-secondary studies and life in Alberta.
According to Beylefeld, RDP offers more than 100 industry-ready programs that increase education, training, and applied research opportunities for both domestic and international students so that they may be better equipped to help address industry and community needs. Through the alignment of our programming with industry demand, graduates of RDP play a critical role in helping meet Labour Market shortfalls in support of advancing Alberta’s economic and social prosperity while increasing productivity.
This would fit into the institution’s 2030 Strategic Plan: Productivity & Social Impact. Learner Impact forms the first of RDP’s strategic drivers identified: In the context of the above, it is proposed to increase the intakes of Polytechnic to 50 per cent in an inclusive environment providing students with unique polytechnic experiences leading onto meaningful employment as well as the fact that graduates from RDP are enabled positively to impact on the economy and society.
