A new double degree from the School of Data Science
From September 2027, the Faculty of Business and the School of Data Science will jointly offer a new self-financed double degree programme: the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) – Finance and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Innovative Design and Artificial Intelligence.
The programme brings together finance, artificial intelligence (AI), data science and innovative design. It is built to nurture versatile, interdisciplinary talent that the market needs. It runs for four years, which is more time-efficient than traditional five-year double degree programmes. Students earn two undergraduate degrees after completing 150 credits.
The School of Data Science will also offer a new self-financed programme, the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Innovative Design and Artificial Intelligence. It draws together innovative design thinking, human-computer interaction and systems engineering, and aims to cultivate talent with both professional technical skill and humanistic design thinking.

Samuel C.C. Ting Elite Class: a full scholarship for top interdisciplinary learning
Lingnan launched the Samuel C.C. Ting Elite Class in the 2026/27 academic year. It is named after Nobel Laureate in Physics Prof Samuel C.C. Ting. The class selects top-tier talent from outstanding undergraduates who have been awarded University Entrance Scholarships.
Students in the class receive a four-year full-tuition scholarship and a four-year full-accommodation subsidy, with guaranteed hostel accommodation. They also gain:
- Personal mentorship from distinguished academics
- Preferential participation in cutting-edge research projects
- Opportunities to meet renowned scholars, including Nobel Laureates
- AI training from major multinationals, leading to professional certificates
- Priority for admission to postgraduate programmes upon graduation
Rising in International Rankings
Lingnan made a notable leap in international rankings this year. It placed 257th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027. It kept its position as No. 1 in the world for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education in the Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. It also ranked 84th in its debut in the The Asia University Rankings.

Lingnan follows an independent recruitment policy for Chinese Mainland Gaokao candidates. Applications are processed outside the National Colleges and Universities Enrolment System, so they do not affect or occupy Chinese Mainland university quotas.
