Background

Canva Thailand has made it easier for students and teachers across the country to access Canva Education, its free premium platform for the education sector. The simplification follows a major agreement signed with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) on Monday.

As part of the new system, users must now log in using email accounts under the National Digital Learning Platform (NDLP) domain, @ndlp.go.th. These accounts will be issued by education zones, allowing automatic access to Canva Education without the need for any further approval steps. Earlier, students and educators had to apply using their personal emails and go through a lengthy verification process to confirm their status.

The cooperation aims to provide more than six million teachers and students nationwide with complete access to Canva’s premium educational tools at no cost for the next three years. Canva expects that by 2027, the entire OBEC network will be fully onboarded.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr Phuriwat Khamaikawin, Director of OBEC’s Institute of Academic and Education Standards, and Pakapol Thangtongchin, Country Manager of Canva Thailand.

To support the rollout, Canva and OBEC will launch several digital upskilling programmes. These include nationwide teacher training starting in December 2025, a “Train the Trainer” initiative to develop expert educators, student-focused design and communications courses, and a national creative competition using Canva.

Thailand has about 30 million Canva users, with nearly 7 million using it every month. Canva Education provides many features, including premium content libraries, ready-made classroom templates, tools for project assignments, and real-time collaboration for students.

This initiative is expected to make digital learning more creative, interactive, and accessible across Thai schools.
