Background
Bhutan’s Ministry of Education and Skills Development is collaborating with the EtonHouse International Education Group for the establishment of an international K–12 institution in Bhutan for the very first time. The new EtonHouse Bhutan International School will be inaugurated during the academic year of 2026-2027.
The school will serve over 500 students and offer a full K–12 pathway. The curriculum blends internationally recognised frameworks, including the International Primary Curriculum, Singapore Mathematics, and Cambridge qualifications, with Bhutanese History, Dzongkha, and a multilingual programme covering English, Dzongkha, and Mandarin. Early years learning follows the Reggio Emilia-inspired EtonHouse Inquire. Think. Learn the curriculum.
The Ministry’s Secretary, Tshewang C. Dorji, said the partnership gives Bhutanese students access to world-class education within the country, reducing the need to study abroad while strengthening national human capital. He added that the initiative also aims to position Bhutan as an emerging hub for quality learning.
EtonHouse Group CEO Ng Yi-Xian said the school will connect Bhutanese students to a global learning network, offering international perspectives while remaining grounded in local culture.
A scholarship scheme will offer full tuition to up to ten outstanding Bhutanese students each year. The campus features a Research and Innovation Centre, science laboratories, performing arts studios, sports facilities, and Reggio-inspired learning spaces. Bhutanese craftsmanship, together with contemporary design, shapes the built environment.
Enrolments are open for Nursery 1 to Year 5, with plans to expand to age 18. Families can attend an Experience Day in late May to learn more.
