Background
UK-based education technology company Efekta Education has crossed 5 million active users on its learning platform, three years after its launch. The company now works with governments, schools and employers across Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Efekta supports about 250,000 teachers worldwide. Its platform is used for school education, teacher training and workplace learning, including English-language and higher education programmes.
The company was launched in 2023 as a spin-out from EF. It now has partnerships in countries including Brazil, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Rwanda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
Government partnerships have played a major role in its growth. Efekta works with education ministries, local authorities and charities to provide learning tools for students and help teachers plan lessons and track progress.
In Brazil, the company said English assessment scores in Paraná improved 32.5% within two years. About 750,000 students in the state have access to the platform. The programme has also expanded to other states, with more than 4 million students using the system.
Efekta also reported positive results from a pilot in the Philippines. The four-month programme involving 2,500 learners recorded vocabulary increases, speaking speed and sentence length.
The company is also using its platform for teacher training in Rwanda and other African markets. Its regional programme aims to reach 150,000 beneficiaries by the end of 2026.
Beyond schools, Efekta provides language and skills training for employees through partnerships with companies.
The company also added to its leadership team, welcoming Stefania Giannini as President of Government Relations and Matt Fisher as Chief Technology Officer.
