Background
Zoho has launched Classes 2.0, a major upgrade of its learning management system, adding artificial intelligence across the platform to improve teaching, learning, and academic administration. The company said it developed the new version after several years of working closely with educators and gathering feedback from schools, colleges, universities, and government institutions.
The platform introduces an AI tutor that only answers questions related to the subjects a student is enrolled in. Zoho said this approach helps keep learning focused and reduces the chances of incorrect or unrelated responses. The platform also has these micro-learning bits, AI-based career guidance and an AI course builder that can churn out course outlines, learning outcomes, and the supporting content all in 22 Indian languages. Teachers can review and edit all AI-generated material before using it.
Classes 2.0 provides teachers with AI-assisted computer science assignment grading and automated lesson preparation. Zoho said the feature can reduce the time spent on manual grading, allowing teachers to focus more on classroom teaching. The platform also lets teachers review AI-generated feedback before sharing it with students.
For educational institutions, the system includes tools to map course outcomes and prepare accreditation-related reports. Zoho said these features can simplify compliance work and reduce administrative effort.
The company added that institutions can control student access to AI tools. By saving certain educational materials on devices, the mobile app additionally facilitates brief offline access.
Zoho is providing Classes 2.0 for free to individual teachers with up to 100 students as well as to federal and state government entities. Private educational institutions can subscribe through paid plans, with additional services available for custom requirements.
